National home prices increased 18% year over year in July 2021, according to the latest CoreLogic Home Price Index (HPI®) Report . The July 2021 HPI gain was up from the July 2020 gain of 5.3% and was the highest 12-month growth in the U.S. index since the series began in 1976. The increase in home prices was fueled by low mortgage rates, low for-sale supply and a rebounding economy. Projected increases in for-sale supply and moderation in demand as prices grow out of reach for some buyers could slow home price gains over the next 12 months.

Mission Viejo residents and businesses can destroy their sensitive documents during the free drive-through Document Shredding event on Saturday, October 2.

Hosted by Waste Management and the City's Public Works Department, the event is from 9 to 11 am (or until truck capacity is reached) in the Mission Viejo City Hall parking lot at 200 Civic Center.

Residents and businesses can bring up to five banker-size file boxes worth of paper records for immediate shredding. Proof of residency is required. All documents and boxes should be free of binders, paper clips, plastic sleeves and metal butterfly clips.
